The only thing I can say is that I wish the cameras were a little better, one that can actually maybe have a zoom quality. You can talk to somebody through the camera but you can't get a good quality shot. They don't send somebody walking through your home and let you do it yourself and are on the phone with you until you get your whole house working. If I unplug my camera, they send me a message and tell me, "hey, you know your camera just got moved". I like that you don't have to nail anything on the wall.
A drawback to Brinks Home Security is the 36-month contract. However, it's somewhat common within the home security industry to have a lengthy contract. Pricing for a Brinks system is also customizable as the company has financing options and various home security packages to choose from. Overall, the sign-up process is straightforward and fast. You even have the option of calling a representative to configure a custom package to suit your needs. Your options are a month-to-month contract or a standard 36-month contract. That's three years that you're locked into the service, and the warranty for equipment only applies for two years. Because I had an upgrade a few years ago, I was told that I had agreed to a verbal contract with Brinks. I can't remember this and they have nothing in writing but still I have to pay or get sued. My husband and I have decided to move to another city and I was told by Brinks that I owed another six months and to pay up if I wanted to be disconnected. I've opted to pay for the new owners of my home to have free protection for six months rather than give Brinks $200+ and not get anything for it. So beware, if you terminate early you will be charged the entire time of your contract!
It was very easy to set up and it went together exactly the way that they said it should. The equipment was easy to install and it all worked exactly the way they said it should. It does require a little bit of a capability to actually install the equipment. I found it very easy to do but I had to go back and look at the website to understand some of the things that weren't explained thoroughly. When an alarm is triggered, you will receive an alert with the Nest app where you can respond accordingly. When we couldn't find the pricing on professional installation on the Brinks website, we turned to a Brinks customer service rep for more information. Although they mention "transparent pricing," we didn't find this to be exactly true. According to the Brinks sales rep we spoke to, the professional installation, instead of theDIYversion, would cost anywhere between $199 to $399, depending on the current promotions.
When it comes to home security systems, Brinks offers customizable features and professional monitoring. It sounds like a lot of customers don’t like their new provider compared to their old ones. Brinks Home says you can add up to 119 security or smart home devices that will connect with your control panel. You don’t necessarily have to get all those from Brinks Home, but the company does offer a ton of different devices.
